history of pilates

Pilates is an exercise system developed by Joseph H. Pilates back in the early part of the 20th century. Over the course of a lifetime Pilates dedicated his time to improve physical and mental health by creating exercises for the whole body. Pilates strengthens the body from the inside out, increases flexibility and improves overall health including strengthening the body’s core and improving posture. Pilates helps to bring balanced development to the whole body. Pilates exercises are performed on a mat and on specially designed equipment.
